The mission of the Ottawa Public Library (www.library.ottawa.on.ca) is to “nurture the love of reading and the pursuit of knowledge. People use the resources of the Ottawa Public Library to read, think, learn, interpret, imagine and connect with each other and the world.”

There are over 30 branches of the Ottawa Public Library across the city.  The three branches that are the most easily accessible to the residents of Glabar Park are:

Library cards are free to all residents of the city and can be obtained from any branch. Photo identification and proof of address is required to obtain a card.

A number of other libraries are also accessible across the city at our various universities and colleges. As Canada’s capital, Ottawa is also home to Canada’s national library. Library and Archives Canada (www.collectionscanada.ca) offers a number of public services including a vast collection of microfilms, microfiche and other genealogical resources.
