WADING POOLS:
The wading pool season will run from June 25th to August 27th, 2010, with staggered start dates, which will extend the season by one week.
A-Start Pools: June 25th - August 20th
B-Start Pools: July 2nd - August 27th
Approximate swimming hours will be 11:00 am to 6:00 pm in July and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in August and on weekends (weather permitting). ***This year Seasonal Recreation will launch a pilot project to offer later swimming hours at 6 pools, Champlain, Chaudière, Elizabeth Manley, Frank Ryan Park (in Bay Ward), Heron and St. Paul’s. The swimming hours will be 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in August.

Special Events: The City of Ottawa’s wading pools will host 54 free special events from July 8 to August 18, 2010. Each event will feature a low-cost barbecue, arts and crafts, games and prizes.

PROGRAMMING IN THE PARKS:
- Waterplay at Wading Pools: A free introduction to swimming and water safety for children of all ages.
- Yoga in the Park (NEW!): Trained yoga instructors will lead free yoga classes for patrons of all ages at various wading pool locations.
- Park-ticipate at Splash Pads (NEW!): A fun-filled program consisting of sports, crafts and low organized games for children aged 4 to 10.

SPLASH PADS:
The Splash Pad season will run from May 25 to mid-September (weather permitting) (Bay Ward has 2 splash pads – one at Andrew Haydon Park; the other at Lincoln Park). All 82 splash pads are available for use between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., 7 days per week and are unsupervised. For a list of locations, please visit:

OUTDOOR AQUATIC FACILITIES (Deep Pools):
There are 9 outdoor pools in the City of Ottawa, some offering learn to swim programs for all ages. Corkstown Pool is in Bay Ward.

YOUTH ON THE MOVE:
“Youth on the Move” (YOM) is a Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department’s initiative working in collaboration with the Ottawa Police Services and Bylaw Services Branch. YOM enriches the lives of youth through outreach and positive engagement in recreation opportunities in City of Ottawa parks
In 2010, there will be six teams operating in five geographical sections of the City. Each Team consists of two Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services staff primarily working Tuesdays to Sundays, 3:00 to 11:00 pm from June 4th to September 4th, 2010,
